Original & Edgy TheRealB

TheRealB by Binal Patel is a homegrown fashion label, which celebrates exemplary designs and embraces the authenticity of crafts, cloth, colors, and culture. Hailing from a renowned family in the textile Industry, Binal has always been surrounded by beautiful fabrics while growing up. These textiles evoked her inclination towards fashion and the desire to dress people in beautiful silhouettes. This led her to pursue her passion which turned into a full-time profession. In her words, the label offers a seamless balance of elegance and edge subsumed into each outfit. In a quick chat with TMM, she talks about the soul of the brand and why conscious clothing is important.

Tell us how and when did The RealB happen to you?

I was always passionate about fashion. So, it was when I was studying hospitality management, I decided to test the water and dabble in the world of luxury fashion. Then I pursued a course in fashion designing from the esteemed Istituto Marangoni in Milan to expand my horizons. And soon I realized that it is now time to turn the childhood dream into a reality and that resulted in the birth of TheRealB.

What is so unique in the name of the brand?

The brand is as unique as the values it stands for. The letter ‘B’ has come from my name initials. And ‘Real’ stands for the actual fabric that we use to create our designs. All the styles are made with 100% real fabric whether it’s cotton, satin, chiffon, silk, or any other fabric.

The latest collection GARDEN PARTY that we have launched is for Spring-Summer’22. The collection is inspired by the blooming nature surrounding us with cheerful shades of summer for enjoying the fun parties in the grass. While keeping the boldness quotient intact, the collection features dresses, skirts, co-ords, denim, and more in the balmy shades of pastels that create an aesthetic clean and neutral look.

When it comes to developing a collection, what inspires you as a designer?

Nature has always been the inspiration behind all my collections; all my designs do imbibe elements of nature. While fashion is always our priority, at the same time, conscious clothing is also important to us, because that’s the need of the hour to have a better tomorrow. We have designs that are made from orange peel, regenerated nylon, banana fabric, milk fabric, and more.

One fashion trend that you just do not resonate with and why?

The one trend I don’t resonate with is Men Jumpsuit. The reason is that I don’t find it practical. Over the years, it had never worked well, whether these styles showed up on streets in Asian countries or on the haute couture runways, they were not much appreciated. At the same time, Dungarees were more welcomed than jumpsuits.

If you have to choose one Bollywood star to dress your label, whom would you choose and why?

Kareen Kapoor Khan. I mean even millions of reasons are not enough that she is the best style icon in the industry. Besides, her style spectrum is so wide, like from a very heavy embroidered lehenga to a simple top and jeans, she aces everything with ease and ultimate confidence.

Where do you see your brand in the next 5 years?

I think what we are doing currently is really great and there’s more appetite for it, which again is great. We as a team have been able to achieve many milestones with our herculean efforts and we will continue to do so with the aim of marking our footprints in the international markets of Europe and Latin America.
